TGNC Food Bank: Nourishing Families,
Empowering Communities.
The TGNC Food Bank is an initiative of the Nutrition Professionals Network Initiative (TGNC), created to fight hunger, promote healthy eating, and empower communities. We believe that food support should go beyond filling stomachs — it should nourish lives. That’s why we curate healthy food boxes with carefully selected staples that promote wellness, reduce reliance on processed foods, and teach families how to make better food choices.
Through this initiative, we are building a bridge between nutrition education and food support, ensuring that communities don’t just receive food, but also the knowledge and confidence to live healthier lives.
What Makes Us Different, We Provide:
- Curated food boxes with healthy staples.
- Nutrition education alongside distribution.
- Focus on women and mothers with children.
- Health checks and community nutrition programs.
- Launch Event: World Food Day, October 16th 2025, Ibadan.
- Get Involved: (Link to Volunteer Form).
The TGNC Food Bank Mission
To improve food and nutrition security by providing access to healthy, safe, and nutritious foods, while equipping families with the knowledge to make informed food choices.
1). Food Distribution: Monthly outreach programs where families (especially women and mothers with children) receive curated food boxes.
2). Nutrition Education: Simple, practical education sessions during outreaches on topics like healthy cooking, child nutrition, women’s health, and food safety.
3). Health Checks: Basic screenings such as BMI, blood pressure, and nutrition assessments to improve awareness and prevention.
4). Community Engagement: Partnering with organizations, schools, faith groups, and leaders to reach those who need us most.
5). Capacity Building: Creating opportunities for nutrition professionals and volunteers to gain hands-on experience in community health and food systems.
